Mess!

C is fascinated with cleaning up his "mess" and then putting the paper towel in the "trash".  I hear those words multiple times per day.  Don't get me wrong - I'm glad he cleans up after himself.  But he is obsessed about it at times.  Just now, he was blowing raspberries on my leg, then insisted he wipe it off and throw away the tissue.  lol.  R has never been so considerate when he did that.  hahaha

Today's Word

Is "Lady"!  :)  She's now more than just "dog".  lol  :)

Words of the day

Yestersay C's two new words were frog and mess. Already today he has added cheese to his vocabulary. It's exciting to see what he will come up with next. He has also been repeating "I love you" for about a month now. Then he usually follows it with a hug. :) Sweet boy!

18 Months

And C's vocabulary is taking off! He has a new word every day. Sunday it was "bus", yesterday "horse", and today it was "paci". I'll start putting the word of the day, just to see how much he's learning. For now, he's still nursing occasionally. We will go three or four days without, and then something will happen that makes him ask for it, likegetting sick or me being gone for several nights in a row. He usually only nurses a few minutes, but it really makes a difference in his demeanor, so it's hard to say no. Still no haircut yet, though it's getting closer. I just know once the curls are gone, they're gone for good. R's almost done with school and t-ball. He's reading more difficult stories now, and they almost have a decent plot. Lol. His first piano recital is this week and I'm so excited for him. Hopefully next year he can start learning some two-handed pieces. He can definitely hear the music though, because after I sing or play it, he will self-correct the wrong notes. Too bad no one does Suzuki method.

Sea World

We made our first trip of the year to Sea World.  It was so fun to watch C's excitement at the animals.  I can't wait for our annual Mother's Day trip to the zoo!  :)  His language is really taking off, and he comprehends so much.  We're getting closer and closer to the first haircut though.  The curls are primarily only in the back, and the rest just sticks out wild and crazy - just like him.  lol.  We spent 20 minutes yesterday putting his socks on so he could pull them off and then laugh hysterically.  Such a nut!

R is getting to be such a big boy.  He's reading everything he can, and really gets upset if we miss bedtime story.  Over the last 6 months, his favorite color has gone from green, to green and yellow, then to orange.  Too bad we just decorated his room in green and dinosaurs.  He's also moving past the dinosaurs and more into super heroes and Star Wars.

They're growing up too fast!

Dating

Apparently R cannot wait to date his friend, Macie. He says she is pretty and fun to play with. But then he gets sad and says they have been "arguing over what to play". He says, "Yesterday, while I was sitting on the frog, I look at her and say, 'Are you thinking what I'm thinking?' But she said no." " What were you thinking?" I asked. "I wanted to play mommy and daddy, but she wanted to plan ninja angry birds." HAHAHAHAHAHA What a tough life. ;)

17 months

Well, I sorta missed the 16 months, but not for any good reason. Let's see. About a week before C hit 16 months he started walking. He had been at 6 steps for weeks, then suddenly took off. Now he's quite proficient, and of course is still climbing and getting so independent. He has three whole teeth - the second top one is taking its time coming through, much to my and C's dismay. He loves his little puppy toy. He used to call Dad "mama", but since Daddy started taking him to daycare, he calls both of us "dada". Silly baby. We're having to teach how to be gentle, as he has started hitting and head-butting to see what happens. He has also started letting us know when he needs to potty by saying "poopoo", so we are getting him to use the potty some. He definitely knows how to get what he wants by screeching at the top of his lungs. I wish he would do more sign language. He's certainly learning more signs at the new daycare, but he would rather talk or scream than sign.

R is starting his second year of t-ball and what an improvement from one year to the next. He is paying attention and is starting to get an idea of what he should be doing. His reading is also taking off, which has been so much fun! What a funny and fun kid!

15 months

C really likes saying prayers with us - dinner, bedtime, and church he puts his hands together and talks. Then he waves his hands like the sign of the cross. :) lead by example.

He is also obsessed with balls. He loves to throw them against the wall so it comes back to him, but he will also throw back and forth with someone.

We just got done with both boys eating everything in sight, so the growth spurt is coming and I'll be sorting through clothes just in time for warmer weather.

C is finally sleeping through the night consistently, which makes things so much better for me! :) He's also self-weaning slowly. During the week he will ask to nurse in the morning and then usually only once in the evening. And sometimes he only does one side for a few minutes, so it's not like it's a major source of nutrition or fluid for him. I'm still sending frozen milk to daycare every day since he had those hives after drinking their milk. He hasn't reacted to cow milk at home, but I figure we have the stash we might as well use it. :)

Friday, January 27, 2012

C is finally sleeping through mommys night. He's taking a few steps here and there. And he doesn't care for snow. Bur R went to ski school and loved it. :)

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

C has started saying grace with us. He puts his food down, puts his hands together, and talks. When he's done, he resumes eating. So cute!!

Monday, January 16, 2012

C took 3 steps for daddy, then 2 for me tonight! Go C! And two new teeth are on the way too - the front two. :)

New Year and new stories

We weathered the holidays well. Of course, C doesn't sleep well anywhere except his bed, but otherwise things went well. This was a Houston Christmas, so there were plenty of cousins to play with.
We stayed home New Years weekend, which was the best thing we could have planned since C had his third ear infection in as many months. Of course this kid gets a fever every time he has a runny nose, so it's a good thing we took a few extra days to hang out at home.
C still isn't walking but can stand if we trick him into letting go. I wouldn't be surprised if he just takes off running one day.
R, in the meantime, has really decided he likes reading. Even after doing reading homework, then story time, he still wants to read in bed for awhile. I almost hate to make him put the book away to go to sleep, but he's still only 5 and needs to get his rest. :)
One day, R saw me holding my stomach when I had a stomach ache and asked, "Is there a baby in there?" He told us he wants a baby sister. He then started praying for a baby sister. Then, at school they were doing prayer intentions in class prior to the Epiphany, and R announced he was praying that his mommy would have a baby sister. LOL. Now the whole class thinks I'm pregnant again.
I moved the train table out of R's room and into the game room so C could play with it as well, since C is so into trains and cars and such. The first day, the two boys played together for 45 minutes. It was SO nice! The only problem is that C likes to dismantle the train track as fast as R builds it. lol. C is a typical little brother whowants to do what R is doing all the time.
C really likes to climb up on the step stool and brush his teeth and get a drink of water. So cute!
C has started playing the "bee bo" game - though he likes to find Mommy's more than finding his own. :)
Last night, we were watching TV when Kobe Byrant came on. I told R he was a basketball player. R said, "Just like ME!"

14 months.

It's about the climb. Up the stairs, that is. This kid is FAST! And he just likes to go up and down and up and down. He does climb down the right way though - by turning around and going feet first. Still makes me nervous though.
And the talking. He is taking off. His favorite word is "DOG!" LOL. He still does cat and fish too. He's signing "more". He calls the monkey "Ah ah". And he growls at birds (just like big brother). And he has this hand movement with a sound effect to indicate an airplane.
He's paying attention all the time too. He can be in the house, almost asleep, and if he hears a dog in the background, he will sit up, say "Dog!", then cuddle up again. Same thing with airplanes. Haha.
